Professor Manuel Mattheisen is a Professor at the University of Wuerzburg , Department of Psychiatry, Psychosomatics, and Psychotherapy. Before that he is worked at the Department of Biomedicine, Aarhus University as part of the Lundbeck Foundation Initiative for Integrative Psychiatric Research (iPSYCH). He is a physician by training, and has a strong background in genetic epidemiology, biostatistics and molecular genetics. A major focus of his research work is psychiatric genetics. His work so far has led to identification of disease causing genetic variation in a variety of disorders, including schizophrenia, alcohol dependency, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and major depressive disorder. He is also affiliated to our research group at Karolinska Institutet.
