Erik Andersson today defended his thesis in the best of ways and is now a PhD from the Karolinska Institutet. Opponent was Prof Sabine Wilhelm, Harvard and she said “this is the best dissertation I have come across, by far”. The dissertation committee consisted of Prof Bo Runeson, Prof Christina Hultman and Professor Mats Fredriksson. Main supervisor was Christian Rück and Viktor Kaldo, Nils Lindefors and Gerhard Andersson were co-supervisors. Let’s celebrate!
Prof Michelle Craske of UCLA is coming to Stockholm to give her Stockholm Psychiatry Lecture on October 29th in the brand new Karolinska Institutet Aula Medica. This lecture will be very important for anyone workning with CBT. Be there!

How deal with alcohol and drug issues in CBT is a common clinical question. In this study, the alcohol and drug use of 1601 patients undergoing internetbased CBT was studied in how it may have affected the outcome of CBT treatment. Read more at:

A study published in PloS ONE tested a new ICBT platform. Twenty-one adolescents (12–17 years) with OCD and their parents were enrolled in the study. All participants received 12 weeks of ICBT with therapist support. Treatment yielded significant improvements with a large effect size of d = 2.29 (95% CI 1.5–3.07) on the CY-BOCS. Patients continued to improve at follow-up. This is a study out of Eva Serlachius’ research group at Karolinska Institutet. Click reference for full text.
